Inmates serving sentences in Slovenia, as well as former inmates, are entitled to various forms of legal assistance, including free legal aid, a court-appointed lawyer, and a court interpreter.
Free Legal Aid (BPP) in Slovenia
Free legal aid (BPP) is available to individuals unable to bear the costs of court or administrative proceedings on their own.
This assistance may include drafting legal documents, representation by a lawyer, and legal consultations.
Court-Appointed Lawyer
In certain situations, it is possible to obtain a court-appointed lawyer whose fees are covered by the Slovenian state.
The court-appointed lawyer can represent the inmate in matters regarding prison conditions, state liability, and legal or administrative proceedings.
Court Interpreter
Individuals who do not speak Slovenian sufficiently to participate in proceedings are entitled to a court-appointed interpreter.
This right applies to criminal, civil, and administrative proceedings.
Slovenian Tax Identification Number (NIP)
Many legal and administrative proceedings require a Slovenian Tax Identification Number (NIP).
We assist in preparing and submitting applications for a NIP, including for individuals residing outside Slovenia.
